Gone Fishing

The Who ... "Who Are You?" written by: Pete Townshend

Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?

I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said, 'You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away'

I staggered back to the underground
And the breeze blew back my hair
I remember throwin' punches around
And preachin' from my chair

Well, who are you?
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)
I really wanna know
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)
'Cause I really wanna know
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)

I took the Tube back out of town
Back to the Rollin' Pin
I felt a little like a dying clown
With a streak of Rin Tin Tin

I stretched back and I hiccupped
And looked back on my busy day
Eleven hours in the Tin Pan
God, there's got to be another way

Well, who are you?
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, who are you?
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)
Oh, who the hell are you?
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)

Who are you?
Ooh wah ooh wah...

Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?
I really wanna know
(Who are you?
Who, who, who, who?)

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees

I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

Oh, tell me, who are you?
(Who are you?
Who?)
I really wanna know
(Who?)
Oh, I really wanna know
(Who?)
Come on, tell me
Who are you, you, you, oh, you?

-> be back in a few weeks :{)

Well the International Lacrosse Federations Lacrosse World Championship is over and if anyone didn't notice, Canada Won!!! The Canadain Lacrosse Team lead by Gary Gait, Jeff Zywiki and John Grant Jr. defeated the US Lacrosse Team 15-9 in a fantastic 4th quarter surge by the Canadians.

The Toronto Star story titled Iroquois Keeping the Faith is about the modernization of the game from the point of view of the Iroquois Nations and the interest in Lacrosse world wide. In the last line of the Toronto Star story there is a quote from Delby Powless,
"They say when you play lacrosse the Creator smiles," Powless said. "It's our pleasure to share the game with the world."

The Iroquois Nations have been playing the Creators Game for thousands of years, Canadians have accepted Lacrosse as our national sport though sometimes it seems that we forget this or don't even know it. Canada and Canadians seem to excel at Box Lacrosse and have let the game of Field Lacrosse fade. It's nice to see Canadians finally take back their game after a 28 year slump of losing to the US.

Congratulations Team Canada.

So the final standings were:

Gold and Silver
Canada 15 USA 9

Bronze and 4th place
Austrail 21 Iroquois 8

5th Place
England 12 Japan 7

7th Place
Ireland 12 Germany 5

9th Place
Finland 9 Italy 8

Do you know sometimes the world just sucks for people.

Eldest is having a hard time right now. He has been bullied for the last few years, his grades have dropped badly, he can't seem to do anything right. We had him tested by a psychologist. They say he is AD/HD I or ADI or ADD I or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Inattentive... whatever you want to call it. It sucks. He doesn't bounce off the walls, he isn't destructive, he just can't concentrate on anything for more than a few seconds. He has a hard time understanding when people are serious or joking, he can't decipher verbal and non verbal signals from people. Just like his old man. I was never diagnosed ADD, but I was always told I was a dreamer, I didn't pay close enough attention to the class, I had to attend special classes because I couldn't keep up with the rest of the kids, I never knew what people were talking about because I couldn't understand what they meant, but I learned coping techniques on my own, he hasn't yet. We've got him talking to the psychologist about how to cope with with people and the world around him, it sucks for him, he is realizing that he is different not because he wants to be but because he is. We're trying to help him but its hard.

On top of all this, last week, he gets mugged on the way to the dentist.. the shits took a $75 iPod and patted him down for his wallet .. no one should be treated this way. But my son was. We filed a report with the police, nothing yet. I've driven around the neighbourhood seeing if I could find them... what would I do if I did, run them down with my car (I can only dream) Now he is nervous about going out into the neighbourhood by himself. A month ago he had no problem riding a bus to Yorkdale by himself, now we can barley get him to visit the guys in who live only a block away from us. You want to keep your kids safe, but nothing you prepares you for this. At least a good side to this is he has started to take TaiKwonDo again.

Middle just got a cast off, she broke her arm playing soccer, Youngest is herself.. I love them all

What happened on July 13th?

Syd

Back on July 7th, Sid Barrett, an artist, some might think a genius, passed away at age 60. Growing up I wasn't a huge Floyd fan, in fact I found their later music overblown and pompous.

But, without Sid and his problems one of my favoite songs would neve have been written.

Wish You Were Here (Waters, Gilmour)

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

So, good bye Sid and thanks for the music.

If you have time and you want to watch a great sport, The World Field Lacrosse Championship is happening in London for the next two weeks. Twenty One teams from around the world are coming to Canada to compete in one of the fasted games on two feet. CBC Saturday Sports television will be broadcasting Saturdays game between Team Canada and the Iroquios Nationals Team, but for some reason the CBC has chosen not to show the sunday game on the reqular network, you have to be able to get Country Canada to watch Team Canada vs Team USA .. arrgh!!!

If you don't know nothing about the game, don't worry it's easy to pick up. Just remeber they are allowed to hit each other with the sticks and yes those players aren't acting when they fall to the ground.

If you are down in London, go support the team and let me know how it was.

Today is Middles 12th Birthday .. Born 07/07/94, I remember when she was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and she was blue, the doctor held her for what seemed hours but in reality was only a few seconds and she cried and I breathed .. she is one of my Angels, the toughest but at the same time the most fragile of my kids. Her doe eyes can melt your heart when your angry, but she will put up a fight over the littlest thing, and will fight till she wins. It's really hard to get her to accept that she is wrong. I love her with all my heart, happy birthday not so little girl.
