May 26 th.

I haven't been blogging lately because I really don't have anything to say.

Life has been okay. Eldest is a 14 and acting like a 14 year old, meaning that we can't make sense of why or how he makes the decisions he makes. Middle is a pill, 11 .. Rolls her eyes at me, like I just don't get it, and youngest is going through a clingy stage.

As to the world, two things jumped out at me this morning.

Desmond Dekker of Desmond Dekker & the Aces fame, has passed away at 64. Not sure if you have ever heard the song Isralites, but it was the first song by a Jamaican artist to reach the international top 10. In my opinion this song lead Ska to Reggae to Marley having such an influence on not just local Caribbean culture but International music culture.

A Toronto cop has received a short term (15 months) demotion (reduction in rank and pay) for taking a bribe, he let a person off a drunk driving conviction because that person dropped a name. Hey I think he should be fired, but that’s another point. My question to this story is has the person who presented the officer the ticket been charged with offering a bribe to a Police Officer, I thought this was a crime also.

Anyway have a great weekend.

May 18 th.

A three year old was struck and killed by a car last night in my neighbourhood. My daughters and I saw the police cars and tape as we went for our evening walk around the block.

The Toronto Sun story stats

The girl was able to get out of the car without any help and no booster seat or child seat could be seen in the rear of the car she came from.
Toronto police Traffic Services Sgt. D W said. "At this point I can't say whether the child was in a booster seat or not. We're early in the investigation."

I don't want to judge anyone but Child Safty Locks on cars have been around since the 80's. Hell I still have my Youngest in a car booster seat because she is so small. This was a preventable accident that should never have happened.

By the way, do you know that the Sun was the only paper that I could find this story in. A childs death isn't as important as the death of a soldier who choose to be there. Sad.

Music meme time again thanks to St. Dickeybird (I don't want to work) .. Really though I just want to see if people can stick around long enought to play. Good Luck.

Step 1: Put your iPod /Tunes or MP3 player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING.

UPDATE May 3 3:22 EST .. Tsunami Warning Canceled, lets hope the local damage wasn't to bad.

Everyone has probably already heard, but a 8.0 earthquake off the coast of Tonga occured just after 12pm est. No informaiton yet on if there is a Tsunami, but the US National Weather Service has posted warnings for Tonga New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. The horrible Tsumani in the Indian Ocean was 9.0 on the richter scale .. so say some prayers for those down under.

The IUCN (World Conservation Union) RedList is released on May 4. This report is on endangered species around the world. Articles from NewScientist.com and the National Geographic News states that the Polar Bear is now on the Endangered Species List, due to climate change (the ice cap is melting, removing their hunting territory). Does this make you ask, does Harper really understand what he is doing by dumping Kyoto?
